Having been exposed to tumultuous periods in the valley, the author captures the peaceful transition and development centric narrative currently playing out to present 360-degree view of the valley. Through his travels to remotest parts of the UT and frank interactions with people from all the strata of this closed society, the author has created an unassuming book of tremendous value to understand contemporary Kashmir. Besides describing the various undercurrents in the society, he has not felt shy of exposing the elephant in the room.
The book is full of vignettes of information. It is a wonderful cocktail of humour, history, politics, social science, geography, economics and in fact anything Kashmiri. It's a must read for anyone having genuine interest in Kashmir or looking for a meaningfully entertaining book.
