Small Unit Leadership: A Commonsense Approach
Malone began his Army career as a private and ended as a colonel almost thirty years later. During that time, he gained a B.S. degree from Vanderbilt University and an M.S. from Purdue, and graduated from the Army's Command and General Staff College and the Army War College. Renowned as the Army's leading expert on leader-ship, both in garrison and in combat, he has taught the subject to noncommissioned officers, West Point cadets, and students at various Army service schools to include the Army War College. An audiotape he prepared on leadership, Soldier, has some fifty thou-sand copies in circulation among Army troop units worldwide, and has brought Malone's lessons on leadership to every battalion and brigade commander assigned to command within the past four years. Retired in 1981, he resides in Florida where he continues a healthy interest in both leadership and his well-loved Army.
